Is there really much more that I can say about these paintings beyond their obvious brilliance? No. So I won’t. The portraits are done to perfection by artist Greg Peltz. Found via Josh Spear.

starcraft II
Jul 22
I know that I said that I wouldn’t be as video heavy as in the past, but this trailer for the upcoming RTS Starcraft 2 is just too good to pass up. As many have said before, Blizzard should think about producing films as well as games…
Francoise

Hey everyone, sorry about the hiatus. I’ve been working on a new design for the site, but realized that I can’t just neglect it while I’m doing that so I promise to keep posting. I decided to go with something that has a lot of color, and isn’t another video… So I’ve decided to show you an amazing artist named Francois Nielly who was born in Marseille and is now living in Paris. She does her work from black and white photos and uses a painting trowel instead of a brush. Check out her site here. Via Cool Hunter.

assasin’s creed: brotherhood
Jun 18
A semi-sequel to Assassin’s Creed II (let’s call it 2.5 shall we?), Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood is bringing multiplayer to the once lonely world of Ezio. Here’s the E3 trailer for the game that will be coming out this fall.

Well, that second thing that got me excited about a game shown at E3? It’s Star Wars the Old Republic of course. Having blown me away with last year’s trailer, Bioware has again gone to the same studio to create this year’s standout trailer. I have to admit though, this trailer actually makes me sad that they’re not making another movie using this studio more than it actually gets me excited about the game the upcoming game.
portal 2
Jun 17
As always, there are a lot of cool things coming out of the video game conference E3 this year, but as an observer there were only two videos that really got me excited about upcoming games. Due to my affinity for its predecessor, Portal 2 was already in my consciousness but with this new trailer my desire for this game just quadrupled…
s.f. crime

In Science, visualizing data is one of the most important tools used when deciphering what’s really going on in a natural system. It’s therefore always interesting to see new ways of seeing data, especially when it becomes this visually striking. Below is the work of Doug, getting a handle on the crime statistics of San Francisco using elevation as a way of representing the data.

Let me say that rarely has one video included so many of my favorite things. Soccer, Star Wars, Daft Punk, and Snoop Dog. Need I say more?
